it’s National Volunteer Week!

This week we celebrate National Volunteer Week and recognise the many thousands of Australians who support their community in so many ways. From sporting clubs, schools, hospitals, disability services, aged care and the environment, volunteers are truly the lifeblood of our communities.

We’d especially like to acknowledge the enormous contribution you, our Campground Hosts, Volunteer Rangers and Friends of Parks volunteers make to our national parks reserves and the many programs you support us in delivering. Your support and understanding has been especially appreciated over this last year with the challenges around COVID-19 and the subsequent required changes to volunteer activities, and the unexpected increase in park visitation due to border restrictions.

So, whether you help to preserve our national parks reserves, improve park visitor experiences, share your knowledge and help create a connection to nature with others, or enhance the work being done by staff and other volunteers in South Australia’s parks and reserves, we’d like to say a huge THANK YOU to each and every one of you!

Take care, and best wishes from all the Volunteer Programs staff
