Central Hills Four Wheel Drive Club Inc.

The Central Hills Four Wheel Drive Club had its inaugural meeting on 16 February 1996 at the CWA Hall, Mt Barker. The Club is an Incorporated Body, with its own Constitution and By-Laws, and is a member of Four Wheel Drive South Australian, the SA Branch of the National Council.

We have established ourselves as a friendly group with a proven track record for organising training, trips and social events. These have ranged from multi-week trips visiting such icon destinations as the Great Victoria and Simpson Deserts, the Canning Stock Route, and Cape York; to weekend and day trips and standing camps; plus a range of miscellaneous activities, such as our annual dinner. For much of its existence, the Club has been a registered Friend of All (SA) Parks. We have spent thousands of volunteer hours working in such Parks as Deep Creek, Vulkathunha-Gammon Ranges and Glenshera.

JOINING THE CLUB – Membership is open to any person or persons owning, or having legal control of a four wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicle designed for off highway use, interested in the furtherance of the club, and living within one hundred road kilometres of the Mount Barker Post Office.

MEETINGS – Meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month, January to November in the CWA Hall, Mt Barker. They commence at 7.30pm, and usually take the format of a general business period, occasionally followed by a guest speaker.

MANAGEMENT – The Club has a full and progressive committee, which meets regularly each month. The Club’s Annual General Meeting is held before 31 July each year, when a new committee and club officers are elected. We also have delegates who attend meetings of the various Units of the South Australian Association.

TRIPS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES – The Club regularly runs trips and other events. These are conducted within the framework of our By-Laws, which cover various safety and environmental issues, etc, but do not prevent members having a fun time. Providing they are supervised by their parents, children are welcome as participants. Prospective members and visitors are allowed on Club activities at the discretion of the activity leader, but not to the exclusion of Club members. Vehicles participating in Club activities must be covered by comprehensive or third party property insurance.

NEWSLETTER – We have our own newsletter (named FOUR-TOLD), which is produced on a monthly basis, and distributed to members by email.
