Biodiversity Victor Harbor is a not-for-profit group founded by the local community of the Southern Fleurieu, South Australia.
We are deeply concerned and passionate about preserving and enhancing our region’s biodiversity and sustainability.
We are incorporated and registered as a Charity with the Australian Charities & Not-for-profit Commission (ACNC) and have Deductible Gift Recipient status – meaning your donation will be tax deductible.
What’s in a name?
Biodiversity comes from two words - Bio meaning life and diversity meaning variability.
Biodiversity is the variety of life, extending from the level of genes to species, to ecosystems.

Victor Harbor - as an anchor point, the hub from a geographical perspective of the region

Our genesis being members from existing local environmental groups and people from different walks of life within the broader community.
We have created a range of membership categories including
Individuals, Lifetime Individual, Honorary Life, Patron, Ambassador, Family, Lifetime Family, Community Network, Friend & Corporate Associate.
What have we gotten involved in over the past 12 months?
1. Negotiated with City of Victor Harbor to fund a Proof of Concept trail Community Indigenous Nursery (5000 seedlings) - the objective being to evolve to a larger scale Community Indigenous Nursery &
Environmental Information Hub
2. Made a submission to council's Urban Growth Management Strategy consultation
3. Made a submission to the state governments Greater Adelaide Regional Plan
4. Facilitated a Community Conservation Conversation with our Patron Professor Hugh Possingham
5. Facilitated a Bird Walk along the Inman River
6. Facilitated a Conservation Conversation with our Patron Professor Hugh Possingham involving over 100 High Schools students
7. Joined Landcare SA & Friends of Parks & Nature SA
8. Completed the administrative requirements to become a registered Charity & achieve Deductible Gift Recipient status from the ATO (Donations being tax deductible)
9. Lobbied developers in regards to removal of mature native trees & enticing them to share information with new residents of using local indigenous plants in their gardens
10. Reached out the the local indigenous community
