Tea Tree Gully MTB Trail Maintenance

By conducting regular trail maintenance in both Cobbler Creek and Ansteys Hill Recreation Parks, we aim to minimise erosion caused by water flow, which can damage surrounding plant life. Drainage is a key consideration of the works we conduct in both parks as it ensures the longevity of the trails and the sustainability of the surrounding plant life. Our maintenance also helps prevent trails from widening unintentionally - an issue that is currently being addressed at Cobblers - to aid in the protection of native vegetation.

Our maintenance also ensures that riders keep to the designated paths by ensuring that the defined trail is the most desirable line to ride. Mountain bikers are known to venture off trail in order to make their experience more enjoyable, therefore by keeping riders off of informal paths, we can ensure that all activity does not encroach on the habitats of native wildlife and important or significant sites in the area. This helps to prevent disturbance of local fauna and destruction of protected areas. At times we have also utilised planting trees as a technique to close off non-sanctioned trail segments, further enhancing the protection of native flora in the area.
