Spending time in nature does wonders for your mental health, and a new DEW Facebook campaign is highlighting the benefits of visiting a South Australian national park.

The campaign focuses on how the Coronavirus pandemic is changing the way we live our lives on a daily basis, which may be leading to extra stress. And that in life’s most stressful moments, taking time out to look after your mental health and wellbeing is most important.

And the campaign message rings true for DEW staff too.

Getting a dose of nature could be just what you need when you feel stressed. Evidence shows that spending time in the great outdoors can help reduce your stress levels, improve your concentration and generally helps you to feel happier.

So take a break this weekend and visit your local park. They are waiting to be explored.

Whether you want to regenerate productive land, create a beautiful place to live and work, or provide homes for local wildlife, revegetation is as important as ever and something we can all contribute to.

You can grow your own plants, or we’ll assign one of our volunteer to grow your order.

Registration is quick and easy. We are here to help if you would like any assistance with the online form and, where needed, we can assist in training your organisation to help you manage volunteers safely.

With the cooler months upon us and recent bushfire recovery funding opportunities opening up, now is the time to get the word out about your recovery activities. We accept a wide range of projects and events occurring in directly affected zones, as well as nearby regions, including areas that act as refuge habitats. We also welcome online and citizen science projects that can aid environmental recovery.

The pandemic has pushed the plight of our fire-affected parks into the background, but they are still struggling and need all the help we can give. Friends of Parks SA will direct all donations to its Gift Fund in 2020 and 2021 to those Friends groups working in these parks. Read the announcement by our President  here.
